What is a breast lift?
The breast lift procedure, medically known as a “mastopexy,” is a surgery that is performed and designed to provide lift to the breasts. It is different from breast augmentation surgery which uses implants to enlarge the size of the breasts. However, some patients choose to have both performed at once to provide the best results.
Why might I consider a breast lift?
Women experiencing moderate to severe ptosis, or drooping, of the breasts may be a great candidate for the breast lift procedure. Some women may have drooping that results in the positioning of the nipple and areola near the bottom of the breast, and may experience sagging that requires a bra to reposition the breasts correctly on the chest. By determining the level of ptosis, our doctor can decide if you are a good fit for this treatment.
What causes the breasts to droop?
Ptosis of the breast can be caused by many reasons. For some patients, it is a natural process of aging as larger breasts cause skin laxity and can pull downward with time. For others, it is a result of weight changes, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
