Dr. Wiener specializes in the practice of Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery, including breast augmentation or breast implants, liposuction, abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, and advanced skin care (Juvederm injection and Botox) serving Houston, Clear Lake, and Galveston, Texas.

Liposuction, fat suction, or suction lipectomy is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. It is the technique to remove unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body.
Liposuction has been used to remove fat from the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, knees, chin area, jowls, neck, chest and the upper arms. This form of plastic surgery should not be used as a substitute for weight reduction, but only a method of removing localized fat that doesn't respond to dieting and exercise.
The best candidates for liposuction are those of normal to slightly above normal weight who have pockets of excess fat in particular areas of their body that do not respond to dieting or exercise, such as the love handles in men and the saddlebag or thigh area in women. Liposuction is usually done as an outpatient procedure and general anesthesia is usually required.
The tumescent technique is used and has led to a decrease in the
postoperative recovery time. This technique enables removal of larger
volumes of fat during the procedure with less blood loss.
Planning your surgery
In your initial consultation, Dr. Wiener will evaluate your health,
determine where your fat deposits lie, and carefully assess your skin
tone. He will explain any alternative body-contouring methods that may
be appropriate, such as abdominoplasty,
or tummy tuck and discuss the options or the combination of
procedures that would be best for you.
Preparing for your surgery
Dr. Wiener will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding vitamins, iron tablets, and certain medications. If you develop a cold or an infection of any kind, especially a skin infection, your procedure will have to be postponed.
While you're making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your cosmetic surgery and to help you out for a day or two, if needed.
Liposuction is normally safe, however, as with any surgical procedure, there are certain inherent risks which should be discussed with your surgeon.
The costs of liposuction will vary depending upon the extent of the surgery and areas treated.
Depending on the extent of your procedure, it generally takes 2-3 days to recover from surgery and return to work.
